Having been a fan of Cam Cole since seeing him busk at Reading Festival, 2019, as soon as he was on tour I knew I had to design a poster for it. I created this first draft of the poster off my own back and showed it to Cam when he played in Bristol at the Hen and Chicken. He was impressed and asked me to send it to his management team to collaborate.

The idea for a skull overlayed on a somewhat drawn back psychedelic background came to me quite quickly. The visuals, in my opinion, matched his style and vibe he expressed both through his stage presences and music. I then turned to a previous illustration I’d created for a personal project (the record inside of a skull) , adapted that for a base and worked the rest of the assets up from there.

After sending the first draft of the design to Cam’s management team, there were many conversations to finalise the poster with the final outcome being the blue design you see below.

As part of this package I created for Cam, I created various social media assets for them to use as well as a stage banner design that would be used on the Albion tour.

Despite getting paid for the job, Cam decided not to use this design to promote the new Albion tour starting the following year but instead opted for a different artist who had a more folk illustration vibe for the poster. Although it would have been great to see the work I’d created be used to promote his new tour, it was a great experience to work with Cam and his team, and I am incredibly appreciative towards them for the opportunity they gave me. It has given me the confidence to carry on designing posters.
